Joyce Gulledge Taylor

Met my current husband (Tom) in Miami while working as a medical transcriber for Peninsular Testing Corp. He was a mechanic at a gas station next door to where I worked. He decided he did not want to be a "grease monkey" anymore and wanted to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree at Purdue University in Indiana.

He took me to Indiana in the summer of 1974 to meet his family. We got married that November. We moved to Indiana in December of 1975 (first time I saw snow) and lived there for 6 years. He graduated Cum Laude with a BSEE and MSEE and started one semester towards a Ph.D. I also worked at Purdue University starting as a clerk/typist and then worked my way up to Department Head Secretary in the School of Industrial Engr. Both daughters were born in Indiana. We then moved back to Florida in 1982 to be near his family (and also mine). Matthew was born in Tampa.

Have been blessed with three children and six grandchildren.

My twin sister, Janice, lived in Tampa for awhile before she decided to move to South Carolina. Miss her a lot but we keep in touch.

Unfortunately, my husband (Tom) of 40 years passed away on September 25, 2014, at home, after a courageous battle (7 months) with pancreatic cancer. He was on clinical trials at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, but unfortunately the chemotherapy wasn't successful. He is terribly missed.

I am so thankful that Tom was able to see his latest grandchild before his passing. I am also thankful for my family who live here in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

I will definitely miss going to the Daytona 500 speed weeks that Tom and I have been attending continuously from 2008 until 2013. I will get there again one day. Never get tired of Nascar.

Really loved those football games and our school band was the greatest!!!
